  • Headache

Training and education

  • Medical training - University of Bristol, 1991-6
  • PhD - University of Oxford, 2001-4
  • Specialist registrar training in neurology in Plymouth, Exeter and Southampton

Dr Lovett has worked for the Trust since 2005.

Prior to this, she spent three years working in the stroke prevention research unit in Oxford with Professor Peter Rothwell. Her research focused on the pathoepidemiology (causes, effects and control) of the high early risk of stroke after a TIA (transient ischemic attack) or minor stroke.

Key achievements

  • Set up the UHS tertiary referral specialist headache clinic (2017)
  • Clinical lead for neurology (2015-present)
  • Neuroscience clinical governance lead (2013-15)
  • Development of regional stroke pathways including the mechanical thrombectomy and the malignant MCA stroke pathways
  • Development of the 24 hour stroke thrombolysis service at UHS (2008)

Awards and prizes

  • Wellcome Trust clinical research and entry level fellowships, 2001 and 2002
  • Brain neurology entry scholarship 2003
