Application submission and study management
Find out more about the requirements and tools for applications and study management.
Application in progress
Contact your divisional research facilitator in the first instance with any queries relating to your application, or for help with the Integrated Research Application System (IRAS) submission process.
The IRAS system allows creation of the key ethics, governance and permission forms from a single application point.
N.B. please answer “YES” to question 5b on the IRAS project filter page where eligable. This is now the only mode of entry onto the NIHR Research Portfolio and therefore the only way for your study to access NHS service support costs and research nursing support.
Study in progress
Investigator site file
Investigators must maintain an Investigator Site File (ISF), incorporating all key documents and records relating to the study – details and templates for use can be found on our ISF page.
EDGE – the tool for managing and reporting
EDGE is the online tool for study management and progress reporting – using it makes management and mandatory reporting much quicker and smoother
Safety and governance
All researchers must follow the principles and regulations set out in the R&D general policy, and follow the correct procedures for safety reporting. More information and key downloads can be found on our safety and governance pages.
