Treatment

Chemotherapy is the use of anti-cancer drugs (cytotoxic) to destroy cancer cells. It is usually given as a series of sessions of treatment.

For some types of lymphoma, you may be offered an antibody treatment. This could be your only treatment or it could be given in combination with a course of chemotherapy.

This medication attaches itself to healthy and cancerous cells, signalling to the immune system to attack and kill the cells.

Once the treatment is over, the level of healthy cells will go back to normal over time.

Radiotherapy works by destroying cancer cells in a targeted area. Normal cells may be damaged too but they are better at repairing themselves than the tumour cells.
