Waiting for an appointment or treatment

Accessing the care you need is important and while you wait for this, it can be useful to be proactive so you don’t feel ‘stuck’ in the waiting period. Below is some information about what you can do while you wait.
Knowing what to expect
Whilst waiting, knowing what to expect from your appointment or treatment can help manage expectations and ensure you come away from your appointment with an understanding of next steps. Our pages from the outpatients team give some more information on what to expect before, during and after your appointment as well as what the wait can look like and how to cancel your appointment if you need to.
Staying up to date
Information and updates about your appointment/treatment are available on My Medical Record and Patient Hub (for digital letters) so that you don’t miss any changes to your care.
Symptom tracking
If you are experiencing symptoms affecting your day-to-day activities, it can be helpful for medical professionals to know what these are and when they happen so they can look for any common patterns that may explain your symptoms. Bringing this and a list of your current medications can ensure that your appointment or treatment goes as smoothly and efficiently as possible. You can find a symptom tracker below.
