Isle of Wight - one representative
I am pleased to have been elected as a governor representing the Isle of Wight. I have lived on the island for 14 years and worked at St Mary's Hospital for five years until retirement. My speciality was oncology and palliative care.
Previously I worked in Cambridge as a specialist nurse and was a lecturer in nurse education at Cambridge University, Homerton College. I am a member of the patient council on the island and have two daughters currently working at the hospital, one in medicine and one in nursing.
This gives me an insight to current issues on the island.
Having worked at St Mary's it has given me an understanding of some of the issues patients experience when travelling to attend UHS for either consultations or treatment.
I look forward to exploring the issues that arise and working with UHS to ensure that island residents experience a positive outcome within the constraints of the present economic and political climate.
