Our team can provide specialist knowledge, support and care to you and your carers, starting from your diagnosis and continuing throughout your treatment.
Cancer affects people in different ways. During your diagnosis and treatment, you may experience a range of emotions. These feelings can be difficult to cope with and it’s not unusual to have times when you feel low.
Sometimes it can help to talk things through. You might want to talk about treatment options, coming to terms with the news of your diagnosis or living with the impact that this has on you and your family.
How we can support you
As clinical nurse specialists we can support you by:
- Giving advice and support during tests, from diagnosis and throughout your care.
- Assessing and addressing your needs and concerns.
- Giving you time to talk confidentially about any questions, needs or concerns you may have.
- Providing you with current and up-to-date information about neuroendocrine tumours and treatments.
- Offering information about useful organisations and patient support services.
- Providing you with personalised information to promote your health and wellbeing.
- Giving you and your family emotional support.
- Talking to other health care professionals and services to make sure you receive the right care at the right time.
- Making sure you have information about any practical and financial support you may be entitled to.
Specialist NET dietician
- Ruth Lee (neuroendocrine oncology dietician)
As a specialist dietician I help NET patients with their diet and abdominal symptoms which may be related to their tumour, treatments that they are having or surgery. I can undertake a thorough assessment either in person or by phone and follow up to ensure improvement in symptoms, weight and/or diet.
