Departments

Our eye unit has the following separate departments:

• Eye inpatients and eye surgery - including day case and short stay surgery
• Optometry - treatment of low vision conditions as well as contact lens fitting
• Orthoptics - assessing and treating eye movement and visual disorders
• Outpatients - regular clinics

We also have a dedicated unit for eye emergencies and a specialist children's eye service.

Diabetic eye screening

Diabetic eye screening is run by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight diabetic eye screening programme, which provides eye screening for patients in the Southampton and Isle of Wight area.
