Dr Anneliese Day, Highly specialist clinical psychologist
Anneliese has 18 years’ experience of working with people in psychological services within the NHS. She leads on the severe and difficult asthma psychology service and offers one-to-one and group psychological assessments and interventions, as well as offering psychological advice and training to the multidisciplinary team.
Psychology may be considered for individuals with severe and difficult to treat asthma who are struggling with adjusting to their diagnosis; have multiple admissions or attendances to hospital; are struggling to manage their treatment or experiencing difficulties with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Anneliese's main therapeutic approaches draw upon:
- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
- cognitive analytic therapy (CAT)
- acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
Anneliese values the importance of building a good therapeutic relationship and understanding an individual and their own specific difficulties, recognising patterns that they become stuck in, and helping them to find ways to address these in order to overcome their difficulties.
